Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2012

Welcome to the my dream world of fashion.
A world where lunch begins at the Mad Hatter's and gender norms are run over by androgynous androids and the galactic reform of social roles.
Thom Browne has created this world into a reality in his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which makes sense as the last warm weathered collection before the world ends.
A playful romp through a 1920s cabaret with nu-flapper trenches, hour glass silhouettes, ankle length pearls, guys & dolls plaid short suits, and my love of sock garters takes to its zenith paired with zippered socks!
Some critics say it was too much, too theatrical, to much cross dressing, but lets not forget it use to be the 'masculine' thing to do to have male actors play female roles , cross dressing and all.
Reminds me of the couple in Ontario raising their children without the limits of gender roles, letting them choose which gender they want to identify or not identify with, quoted as
“a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm's lifetime (a more progressive place? ...).”
This is what fashion can be all about, a place without limitation, and forcing body images down little boys and girls throats.
A playground of creativity, self expression, a reflection of whats inside our heads and hearts and not a mirrored slate of whats shot into our ears.
